After running Linux for some time I’ve switched to an Apple computer. Directly I’ve noticed that my Mac drew a lot of memory resources. I run many applications at the same time so it could become a problem. Out of the box my Apple came with two GB of RAM no big hassle, I thought.
Unfortunatley my opionion has changed a bit. Apple’s applications keep memory occupied while the user is logged-on. So when closing let’s say: Safari os X still keeps the memory allocated. After running many applications, opening and closing them. You quickly run out of memory.
So I’ve decided to swap the two GB with four GB’s. Memory specs: Kingston 2×2GB PC667 DDR2 (pc-2) SODIMM, it cost only about €50. Now I can run VMWare Fusion again, with two virtual machines. Performance has increased as well.
