OS X: Lion slow network after suspension FIX

My MacBook pro with Os X Lion is very slow when coming out off suspension.

I’ve got a new Apple MacBook pro with Os X Lion last week. After the upgrade i’ve noticed a problem after suspension (sleep/ wakeup) with the internet connection. Compared with my older Apple MacBook pro (early 2008) with Snow Leopard, internet reconnection is almost instant. What else i’ve noticed is reconnecting to my AFP netatalk share on my Ubuntu server is slow as well, but the response is better than the internet, especially DNS.

After some ‘Googleing’ I found the solution to my problem. Apparently more people are complaining about it: thread at apple discussion, and it should be fixed after resetting PRAM and NVRAM: apple support.

FIX:

  1. Shutdown computer;
  2. Power on computer;
  3. Hold keys: option + cmd + p + r (before grey screen is presented);
  4. Release keys after start tune has played twice.

Update:

It should be an one time only issue (I hope so).

    Please tell me you only have to do that once and not after every suspend :(

    Lion…it’s the Windows ME of Apple.

    Fortunately only the one time (I hope).

    @Windows ME, that’s a different story, Microsoft wanted to get rid of DOS based kernel and introduced both 2000 and ME (can’t blame them). So hopefully Apple has a backup plan (Steve 2.0)?
